When did you start your website and why?
My website has been up since late May 2007. I created it to make it easier for people to find me that need help with QuickBooks products, training, installation and setup.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
It lists my accounting services as a Certified QuickBooks Advanced ProAdvisor. Training, sales, installation, bookkeeping, custom reports, Point-of-Sale, are a few of the items listed.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
Choosing a host was difficult because there are very many. I researched many and read a lot of horror stories. I am very happy with my host Applied Innovations.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
Surprisingly, I am finding Expression Web authoring software fairly easy to use.
What was your biggest mistake?
I've been wanting to do this for years & wish I hadn't waited so long
Who maintains your website and why?
Applied Innovations is my host, but I manage it. I enjoy learning new things. Maybe I will be able to offer website creation services to some of my clients in the future.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
The immediate results came from me having a new email address with my own domain name and my URL listed on Intuit's QuickBooks ProAdvisor referral pages.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
I don't recall the last time I used a phone book or yellow pages. I search for everything online. If your business can't be found online, then your online competitors will take your share.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
I have the book, "Search Engine Optimization for Dummies, " and read it and online sources every day. Sounds like it may take some time to get your site easily found by everyone.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
Still working on that. Hope they will be kind.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Emailing everyone I know. Working on press releases today.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
The Morse code transmitter was a really bad investment, LOL.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
If you could get your site recognized and indexed by all search engines in a week or less, that would be fantastic.
