Papers have always been there since ancient times. Perhaps this is because human beings cannot help but record everything they can remember about their lives. As time passed, paper was used more than just a recorder of personal lives but they also served as a medium to record transactions like bank deposits and the like. I cannot imagine a world without even a single sheet of paper.
This voluminous amount of paper led the way to develop efficient ways to fasten them--such as old staplers.
