If you're going out for a Christmas shopping, be prepared to go the mattresses. You know, from The Godfather, it means going or preparing for a war. It doesn't mean you literally need to go to war, but you have to be ready to face the consequences of facing the situation. (Err, the number of people rushing in to complete their holiday shopping)
Christmas shopping is a great example. It's nothing personal, it's all about getting the best buys. Going to the mattresses during Christmas is something you need to be triumphant with or else you'll end up buying the things you'll regret sooner or later.
It's all about getting goods with the best quality, or for some, with the best price. There are three categories people are looking in for good during Christmas. First would be the quality, second is the price, and lastly, the amount of joy the gift can give to the reciever.
Of course, the 3rd one can be dependent on the first two categories, and perhaps on other things as well. Some people will look for gifts that are expensive, some will look for cheap ones but are useful or meaningful to them. Some will want material things, some will want things beyond men's craftsmanship.
Gifts, though, can be very cheap, but can still give the highest form of joy to the reciever. As a matter of fact, a simple "Thanks" to your parents, to your friends, to your boss, to your employees can be worth more than the most expensive gifts there is. Same thing for saying sorry, even for the slightest mistake, wrong things, you have done to others.
