Fun facts about push pins

By Heidi at 06/15/07 14:00
Push pins were invented in 1900 by Edwin Moore of Moore Push-Pins. He described his invention as "a pin with a handle." In the mornings he sold the pins he had made the night before. The first sale was one gross, or 144 push-pins for $2.00. His first big sale was for $1,000 to the Eastman Kodak Company.

Push pins have lots of uses and come in tons of bright colors and shapes. They can be plain boring colors or neon brite colors. I have found animal shapes, flower shapes, and so many others. They come in fashion colors, some are fabric covered, some are steel while others are plastic. I found pewter push pins that are really neat for special uses. There are also push pins with round flat heads you can write on. There are push pins made of wood and thin pins

They are great for tacking stuff to cork boards like pictures and other crafty things. Kids use them a lot in their rooms to mount posters to walls and stick their photos on their spaces they have created for such things.
