Virtual-MyGirlFriday Interview

By Interviewer at 11/02/07 21:56

Name of your website?

Virtual-MyGirlFriday

Your name?

Mis4ta

Your Location (city, etc)

Lafayette

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Virtual office. All your office needs done remotely.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I want to fire my boss. I'm very computer literate with a great deal of knowledge of different office skills. I was tired giving out my services for free to whomever ask. They would ask any and I would do any. So, I decided to get paid for my sharp office skills. I have the equipment to do the best job.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

a few weeks ago. Very simple but effective.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I love vintage like "His Girl Friday" Cary Grant

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

My website has a lot of me in it. Down to the colors and pics.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To succeed in the virtual world. I would like to quit my full time job and just keep this one. I believe I could succeed at this business. Everyone tells me I would make a great salesperson and could sell anything if I believe in the product. Well, I've decided to put my extraordinary skills to use.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I'm very resourceful and frugal,if I don't know something, I become a bit obsessive and learn to do it. It's free to learn.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I wouldn't change a thing. Why? Because you could do most of the marketing, paperwork, bookkeeping....etc. yourself. That's how companies get started. Always having your brain working for you.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes...I'm prepared. I thought through that one....I went through the "what ifs".

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None......oh! I forgot......I had to buy a domain.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Search Enging Optimization! I'm still workiing on making my site go up in rankings.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Wonderful sites like this one!!!! And......applying with different forums and doing a press release is on my list. I also started to compile a list of web addresses from business cards I receive and send out brochures and business cards. I even send out business cards with my bills..........just in case!

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I'm new to the game so I'm still learning. I did steal my teenager HTML book. He caught me......it was funny. He is so protectful. He wanted to help and I refused because I wanted to learn myself.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Just a couple of weeks. It was a lot of work so I'll imagine for a long time. A lot of time has been invested.

What took you so long to do this?~!

I was afraid to jump in because it's risky going out on your own. I came across the idea quite sometime ago and got discourage because when I search for the word "virtual assistant" on a search engine, the first thing that came up was this website promoting on going to Virtual Assistant school. I could not afford to pay any one for skills I already own. That didn't make any sense to me. It still doesn't so I decided to do this on my own.

What is your website address?
